Caretaker – Operative
Location: Redhill, Surrey (Must have driving licence to go out in company Van)
Position: Caretaker – Operative
Hours: Full time, 36 hours 8am – 4pm Mon -Fri
Salary: £26750 – £28000 DOE
You’ll play a key role in improving the day-to-day experience of residents by looking after communal areas, carrying out general maintenance tasks, and helping to keep our neighborhood’s safe, clean, and welcoming.
Key responsibilities of Caretaker Operative:
- Regular inspections: Carry out routine checks of communal areas and blocks, completing minor repairs and addressing issues immediately wherever possible.
- Estate service monitoring: Keep track of grounds maintenance, cleaning standards, and other estate services, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Caretaking duties: Support fire safety compliance, perform basic maintenance, and help with light gardening and outdoor upkeep.
- Community safety support: Assist with fly-tipping removal, nuisance reduction, and wider community safety initiatives.
- Resident engagement: Maintain a visible and approachable presence, building positive relationships and directing residents to appropriate support services.
- Emergency cover: Take part in an out-of-hours standby rota (additional payment provided).
For this role, we are looking for someone with the following:
- Confidence working with challenging behaviour and the ability to stay calm under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety, COSHH regulations, and manual handling procedures
- Experience collaborating across teams and working within local communities
- Clear communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to different people and situations.
DBS clearance will be required for this role.
