Can you tell us a little about your background and what brought you into the world of recruitment?
I’ve worked in recruitment for a number of years, recruiting within business support and financial services. I’ve always enjoyed the people side of recruitment and the fact that no two days are ever really the same.
After taking some time away from recruitment, I realised how much I missed the fast-paced environment, building relationships and helping people find the right opportunities. That’s what brought me back to recruitment and ultimately to Jade Recruitment. I think recruitment is one of those industries where the relationships you build really do make a difference, which is something I’ve always enjoyed.
When things get busy, how do you stay organised and keep track of all the moving parts , temps, clients, and bookings?
I think organisation is really important, especially when you’re dealing with lots of different people and things can change quickly. I like to keep on top of things as they happen rather than letting them build up, and I’m a big believer in keeping clear notes, prioritising what needs dealing with first and making sure I communicate properly with both clients and candidates.
I’ve also learned over the years that staying calm is just as important as being organised. Recruitment can be busy, but panicking never helps!
What do you think makes a great day in recruitment?
For me, it’s when everything comes together. A client has a need, you find the right person, the candidate is happy with the opportunity and the client is happy with the service.
Even better when you’ve managed to solve a problem that initially seemed difficult. I also enjoy those days where you’re constantly busy but finish the day feeling like you’ve genuinely achieved something.
What do you enjoy most about working with people — whether that’s candidates, clients, or the team around you?
Definitely the relationships you build. Everyone has a different story, personality and reason for being where they are, and I enjoy getting to know people rather than treating recruitment as just a transaction.
I also really value working as part of a team and being around people who are supportive, approachable and genuinely care about what they do. That was a big part of what attracted me to Jade Recruitment.
And finally, when you’re not at work, how do you like to spend your time? Any hobbies or interests that help you unwind?
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, gaming and spending time with my girlfriend, family and friends. I also really enjoy travelling and going on holiday, I’m always looking at where we can go next!
I think holidays are a great way to properly switch off and enjoy some time away from the day-to-day routine. Gaming has always been a big interest of mine as well, and it’s a good way to unwind after a busy day.
I’m also a big believer in having a good balance outside of work, whether that’s keeping active, spending time with the people close to me or simply enjoying some downtime.
